The GO System houses a variety of scholarship opportunities for incoming and continuing students at Southern Miss at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Once admitted, all students can search, review requirements, apply and accept their University scholarships in one web portal! Just log in with your SOAR credentials to get started.

The General Application and all recommended opportunities open October 1, 2024 and should be completed by March 1, 2025 to be considered for scholarships funded by the university for the 2025-2026 academic year (be sure to view deadline requirements for special programs of interest as those could vary). These include scholarships funded through the USM Foundation and various departments for specific majors, interest groups, campus involvement, and the Southern Miss Alumni Association.

Applications can be saved in draft form if you need to return later to finish and submit. Students may also update their application at any time prior to the scholarship application deadline. Special scholarship deadlines for the 2025-2026 academic year are as follows:

Additional Scholarship Information

Academic Common Market (Out of State Students)

The Academic Common Market is a tuition-savings program for college students in 15 SREB states, who want to pursue degrees that are not offered by their in-state institutions. Students can enroll in out-of-state institutions that offer their degree program and pay the institution’s in-state tuition rates. More than 1,900 undergraduate and graduate programs are available.

The ACM program is not competitive or merit-based, but applicants must meet state residency and college program requirements.

  • To qualify for the Academic Common Market, a student must be a resident of an SREB member state, select a participating program that is approved for the Academic Common Market for his or her state and be admitted unconditionally into that program.
